Wanting to give back to the town and seeing the ever-growing environmental waste created by out-of-date electronics, DeRosa contracted with the borough in 2009 to become the town’s first year-round available electronic recycling drop-off center. DeRosa, who works with computers every day, understands the importance of electronic recycling, “Unfortunately, computers and other technology devices eventually wear out. Offering to be a responsible solution for the recycling of this equipment is really important to me.”

This cooperative effort with the Madison Environmental Commission allows residents to drop off recyclable electronic items at any time during the store’s regular business hours. DeRosa has collected all sorts of item, including VCR’s, speakers, stereo equipment, computers and computer-related equipment, fax machines, scanners, printers, TV’s, copy machines, cellular phones and other wireless devices. “We assist with collecting about 50,000 pounds of recycled computers and electronics every year.”

Combined with an enduring commitment to serving the communities in Morris County, Essex County, and Union County as a local business, and as the electronic recycling drop-off center for the area, PC Problems was honored with the “Merchant of the Month” award for June 2012.
