About Mendoker's Quality Bakery
In the 1400's the Lenape Indian tribe settled in the area of Jamesburg. They named the area surrounding the lake, Manalapan, meaning "land of good bread." In 1932 Edward Mendoker founded the Quality Bakery one and a half blocks from the lake.
Through years of hard work and a superb talent for baking, the business grew. Bob Mendoker, born in 1932, son of Edward, has always bragged that he was "born on a baker's bench." There was never any thought as to whether or not Bob would be a baker--he was a born baker and under his father's keen eye became very proficient at his trade.
In 1951, while in the service, Bob married Evelyn Reid who was soon brought into baking. After leaving the service he returned to his father's bakery, attended school and became a Master Decorator and Conditor to round out his talents.
In 1962, after the death of Bob's father, Evelyn and Bob purchased the business from Bob's mother Helen, remodeled the store, added a deli department and became known as the Jamesburg Quality Bakery.
The business continued to grow and they decided to expand--the end result is what you see today--one of the finest bakeries in the state--with pride, it is now called...

Today, Bob and Evelyn's son Ed runs the business and you will find a large variety of old-fashioned products in an up-to-date bakery. All of our selections in our Bakery and Deli Department are made from scratch with the finest ingredients.
