It was during an internship with the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office that I decided to be a criminal defense attorney. I met with an officer on a case and he wanted to know what I wanted him to say. When I responded that I only wanted the truth, he said “that’s not how this works.” To me that meant the State had too much power and I wanted to protect people as best I could.
