Dr. Jonathan Cohen
As a 25-year veteran chiropractor in New York City, Jonathan Cohen knows that you can’t slap a Band-Aid on bad posture. The analogy, of course, is to spines—and to achieving both short-term relief and long-term recovery for his varied patients. That’s why Dr. Cohen’s action plan presents New York City with chiropractic adjustments, posture improvement, massage therapy and core strengthening. Jonathan knew from age 15 that he wanted to practice chiropractic, when a family friend recognized his innate diagnostic talents and adopted him as a protégé. A young Dr. Cohen spent afternoons and weekends shadowing his chiropractic mentor and learning by doing. “I was surprised by the far-reaching effects of spinal misalignments,” he said, adding, “and that chiropractic provides a non-invasive, drug-free solution.”
Dr. Cohen’s early inclination would mean little without quality schooling and years of fine-tuning his practice. He earned his Pre-Med degree from Buffalo State, then graduated from the Palmer College of Chiropractic, the nation’s pioneer Chiropractic College. Now, Dr. Cohen utilizes the Diversified, Gonstead and Chiropractic Bio Physics methods to help dozens of patients a day relieve their pain and improve their health.
Dr. Cohen’s passion for getting patients healthy is palpable—eight years ago, he developed severe elbow damage from giving adjustments. Two elbow surgeries later, he’s back at it, working out of a fully renovated office in Hell’s Kitchen, he and his family’s home turf for the past 25 years. Dr. Cohen is quickly becoming a neighborhood fixture, and many people recognize him when he’s out walking his dog, riding his bike, eating, and shopping with his family.
