About Us

Thames Street Oyster House is located in historic Fells Point on the waterfront, and is frequented by locals and visitors alike. The Oyster House offers a spectacular à la carte raw bar, featuring at least ten different kinds of oysters daily from the East and West coasts and beyond. Executive Chef Eric Houseknecht creates impeccable authentic and inspired Maryland, Mid-Atlantic, and New England seafood dishes. Serving only the finest quality seafood available, we source our product from the most reputable and respected purveyors and fishermen, locally, domestically, and sustainably whenever possible. The bar offers handmade cocktails, along with a great draft beer and wine selection, including many local options as well as New England favorites. After going to the "original" Phillips and McCormick and Schmicks, we still had a hankering for local seafood in the Baltimore area. We were recommended to the Thames Street Oyster House and took a cab from Inner Harbor to Fell's Point. Great service and a hipster atmosphere. Reminiscent of Brooklyn. Excellent grilled octopus and the pickled herring was surprisingly good - high quality fish that tastes like sushi quality mackerel. We went for the raw tower, which is very good and has an excellent oyster selection (includes local "Delaware" oysters). The shrimp was pretty standard in texture and could have been better. Great stone crab claws and lobster parts. Another surprise was dessert. No espresso was a disappointment but the pineapple crepes and bread pudding were worthy of any top-end restaurant.
