Joe Manfredi first arrived in NY, in 1952. The perceptive young Italian immigrant recognized that automobiles gave individuals freedom and that the unifying love of cars bridged all barriers. It was then that he made a lifelong commitment to be a part of every American's dream to own a car.
Manfredi's career began at Safe Rambler Motors in Brooklyn where he worked as a mechanic in between day studies at Automotive High School and night classes in automatic transmission repair. In 1964, seven years after graduating from high school, Manfredi purchased the dealership where he worked as a teenager. Already an astute businessman, he transformed Safe Rambler into Safe Toyota; the first Toyota dealership in New York and recent winner of the Toyota President's Award for outstanding levels of performance in all areas of operation.
A generous philanthropist and avid sportsman, Manfredi is a member of the Board of Directors of the Maimonides Hospital, and in 1983, his dedication to the Brooklyn Italian American Community, earned him the distinguished Man of the Year award from the Italian Board of Guardians. In 1962, Joe was instrumental in establishing the Italian American Federation, an organization that helps immigrants become accustomed to life in America.
Manfredi recognizes that sports play an integral role in teaching children valuable team and leadership skills. He is the founder and president of the Mola Sports Club and a member of the Board of Directors of the US Soccer Federation. He has also served as president of the Italian-American Soccer League and the National Champion Brooklyn Italian Soccer team. In 1998, he acquired The Staten Island Vipers, an A-League Division soccer franchise.
From a young mechanic to a successful businessman, for more than fifty years Manfredi has maintained his pledge to customer service and satisfaction. He has, over the years, exhibited a keen business sense and a generous spirit. His success has been built on a foundation of tireless dedication and honesty. Manfredi has earned respect from members of his community and trust from all of his customers.
